Leo Young which is pivotal in understanding why cardio and strength training does not mix GH

Did You Know that Pure Strength should be trained separate to Cardio ?
refer the diagram above by Graham Healy.

When you see 'Cross Fit' ,Circuit training , or Cross training often

the 'confusion' comes when the participants 'mix up the training protocols' without understanding the body's energy systems and how the body's physiology really works.

STRENGTH TRAINING & CARDIO DO NOT MIX

and you are best training them SEPARATELY

IF YOU MIX THEM UP THEN UNFORTUNATELY
"You get the Strength benefits of an Aerobics work out
and the Aerobics/Cardio Benefit of a Strength work out "
to Quote Sports Scientist and World rowing champ Leo Young

(B.App.Sc., (Sport Science), B.Bus., Grad.Dip. Clinical Nutrition, C.S.C.S).

BEGIN WITH THE END GOAL IN MIND

Click the above image for PDF file on the overview and Strength/Cardio mixes for various sports and activities

estimated by Graham Healy

END GOAL ?
The End Goal DETERMINES the type of specific Training and what
'MIX' of energy systems are required to best
ACHIEVE THE END GOAL
Best to start with the END GOAL IN MIND and Work Back from there
Cycling and Periodizing your Specific training plan to achieve those GOALS
Of Course we Advise you not to MIX your "Cardio and weights" training as "Different energy systems" are involved for BEST RESULTS (see diagram above)
THE "HORSES for COURSES" Theory always wins out at the
END OF THE DAY

FUNCTIONAL TRAINING ? END GOAL & PURPOSE ?

All Sorts of RIDICULOUS TRAINING STUPIDITY IS PRACTICED TODAY
without any thought for the "END GOAL" or "PURPOSE" "FUNCTIONAL TRAINING" must by defination have
"A FUNCTION or END GOAL"
ask yourself that simple question before you INJURE YOURSELF doing stupid things designed by equally stupid people with litte or no experience or understanding of the body's biomechanics or energy systems.
